How Miva ® works.

  
 
Mechanical clamping applies pressure to the workpiece. With vacuum clamping, the pressure is applied to the holding surface. This places less stress on the workpiece and a free, clear area for machining.

The unique shape of the Miva workpiece supporting area (waffle-pattern) with minimized supporting area and maximized vacuum-area, guarantees maximum attainable holding force with a rate of efficiency of 92%. This equals 2346 N (517 lbs) of holding force applied to the workpiece of 300 cm2 (46.5 sq. in.) holding surface.

No mechanical clamping means a free and clear work area for faster loading and processing. Allows high volume chip making to be done safely and with confidence. It easily handles non magnetic materials and is ideal for precise machining of delicate and thin walled parts without distortion or risk of vibration. Modular MIVA vacuum plates can be assembled to accommodate nearly any size or shape part including multi-leveled and angled work pieces. The vacuum plates can be mounted horizontally or vertically to any type of machining center or pallet changing system.
